Middleton Grange named North East’s Heart of the Community
The team at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in Hartlepool are celebrating being named ‘Heart of the Community’ at the recent North East Business Awards grand finale.
The prestigious awards were the culmination of a judging process, which included three regional award ceremonies – of which Middleton Grange won the Teesside award- and took place at the Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgfield.
Mark Rycraft Centre Manager for Middleton Grange accepted the award along with Suzanne Chaney the centre’s Retail Executive.
Mark said: “We were thrilled to receive this award. It was a great achievement to win the Teesside award but to go on to win the award for the North East is fantastic. We take our responsibility as a part of the community seriously and it’s great for this to be recognised.
“We work tirelessly to support charities and community groups within the town and run a number of initiatives to support our team, retailers and the wider community.”
Some of the schemes highlighted as a part of the centre’s win were their on-site vegetable-patch, Christmas giving tree and Shop for Schools Campaign.
Mark added: “We gave away over £4,500 of school equipment this year as a part of our shop for school’s campaign and this year’s Giving Tree was our most successful to date with over 3,000 gifts collected.
“We have also given space within the centre for the team to grow and tend to their own vegetable patch. When the vegetables are ready the centre team can take them home to cook for their families.”
