Hartlepool’s Folk Festival visits Middleton Grange
Local shoppers will be able to enjoy traditional morris dancing routines when performers from the Hartlepool Folk Festival visit Middleton Grange Shopping Centre this Saturday.
Taking place in Centre Square on Saturday 20 October at 3pm, five teams – Hexham Morris Men, Hexhamshire Lasses, Silkstones Greens, Flag and Bone Gang and the Lancashire Wallopers – will be dancing up a storm for customers’ entertainment, with a host of show-stopping numbers.
Mark Rycraft, Middleton Grange Centre manager, said: “This is the second year we have welcomed this very talented troupe into the centre. They are quite wonderful to watch! Their routines are breathtaking and have had shoppers stopping in their tracks to see their display.
“The Hartlepool Folk Festival is a brilliant celebration of a fantastic genre of music, embracing all types of artistic styles. It’s a lovely way in which to bring, not only the local community together, but attract fans from across the area, who all share the same passion. It promises to be a very lively weekend.”
Starting on Friday 19 October and running until Sunday 21 October, this is the fourth Hartlepool Folk Festival and is a coming together of all that is folk, from a host of fantastic artists and musicians, to specially-commissioned events taking place across the town.
This year, the festival’s main site will be the National Museum of the Royal Navy to provide the perfect, historic backdrop to the weekend’s activities.
Roger Kennington, a member of the Hexham Morris Men, added: “Our performance last year at Middleton Grange went down really well. We had a terrific response from shoppers who gave some amazing feedback, telling us how much they enjoyed watching us.”
Morris dancers will be visiting Middleton Grange Shopping Centre as part of Hartlepool’s Folk Festival on Saturday 20 October at 3pm and will be located in Centre Square.
