British Heart Foundation launches winter bag-a-thon
Middleton Grange’s shoppers have a chance to spread some festive cheer this week when the British Heart Foundation (BHF) store launches another charity bag-a-thon at the centre.
Taking place from 9am until 3pm on 29 November in Centre Square, people will be able to have a go at winning a variety of fantastic prizes at the charity’s tombola stall, which it’s running in conjunction with the appeal.
After its previous and hugely successful bag-a-thon campaign held in September, the charity is now asking customers for any unworn winter clothes, particularly jumpers and coats that they would like to donate.
Hazel Robinson, Area Retail Stock Generator for BHF, said: “Our bag-a-thons are always so well received and the success we have is simply down to the amazing generosity of the Hartlepool community. Time and time again they prove their incredible kindness and I’m sure it will be the same this time.
“As winter has now arrived and the days are getting so much colder, we are in desperate need of warm garments, so anyone who has a jumper they no long wear or like, or perhaps a coat that has seen better days but can be easily spruced up, then these will all be so gratefully received.”
Volunteers from the store will be there all day handing out bags for customers to collect, which can then be filled up with any unwanted items and donated to the shop and sold on as stock. Once full, the bags can be either dropped off at the store, in the centre or alternatively, a collection can be arranged by ringing a dedicated number which can found on the donation bags themselves.
Mark Rycraft, Middleton Grange Shopping Centre manager, said: “The incredible work the British Heart Foundation does throughout the year is a vital service to so many. At this time of year, warmer clothes are of course essential and the BHF store is in great need of such items to build up its current stock. Please do help us support this magnificent charity in continuing the amazing work it does for the community.”
